CMRO is a non-profit organization formed to promote and protect the interests of Ohio motorcyclists by monitoring and interacting with the legislative process, enhancing the image of the sport and its participants, and providing educational and social opportunities for members and non-members to become acquainted with both the issues and the people of the motorcycling community.  The purpose of CMRO is to protect and maintain the collective and individual rights of motorcyclists while raising awareness about motorcycling among the general public and promoting safety and education for riders.  It is our intent to provide an appropriate forum for educational activities, voter registration, community affairs, and charitable events.  CMRO supports national Motorcycle Rights Organizations (MRO) including the AMA, MRF AND NCOM, and works with other MROs that sponsor social events for members and non-members alike, hold an annual conference, publish a bi-monthly newsletter, The Ohio Activist, and donate over $15,000 per year to various Ohio charities.

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance"

Over the past 22 years CMRO has helped to make motorcycling what it is today. Some of our accomplishments are:

* Defeated 2 National Helmet Laws
* Supported Federal Protection Against Road Bans
* Opposed Congressional Limits on Horsepower .
* Boycotted Insurance Companies that Blacklisted Sport bikes
* Enacted State-Funded Rider Education Program
* Assisted Efforts to Improve rider Training Availability & Affordability
* Declared May as "Motorcycle Awareness Month" throughout Ohio
* Fought EPA Over-Regulation of the motorcycle industry
* Prompted ODOT to Improve Traffic Signal Sensors
* Stopped a Raid by the State of Ohio Budget Department on the Riders Training Fund.
* Defeated a Proposed Mandatory Helmet law for the State of Ohio.
* Lobbied in Washington DC against the NTSB's Recommendation for a Federal Helmet Law

We are currently working on:
* Right of Way/Assured Clear Distance Violation Enhancement Bills
* Health Care Parity Bill to Prevent denial of Claims for Motorcycle Accidents
* Opposing the Constant Threat of Federal Blackmail to Force States into Adopting Mandatory Helmet Laws.

An important aspect of any organization is communication.  Our bi-monthly newsletter, The Ohio Activist, will keep you informed about legislative activities, educational programs and events across the state.  In The Ohio Activist you will also find national news as well as articles about fellow freedom fighters and biker opinions. Regions provide local information about meetings and events through regional newsletters and local contact through regular membership meetings.  These publications and meetings provide timely motorcycling-related information about your local area as well as news about State and Federal activities that may have a potential impact on you.
There are times in our lives when events or situations compel us to step forward and speak up in an effort to exert control over our social environment.  It is often difficult for individuals, however, to have a significant impact on society.  Working as a group, on the other hand, provides us with the intellectual, financial and human resources that we do not have available when working alone.  By voicing our concerns as one and working together for a common goal, we gain the advantages of strength in numbers and the power of the collective will.  We as an organization can accomplish that which we as individuals cannot.
